Archy and how he got to live with us

After Worf passed away there was some debate between the human if another piggy should join or not the Gang. The thought was not to replace Worf, but to use the space and help another piggy.

There were two parties. The human female (aka Ms M) on one side, saying that a piggy from a shelter could benefit of a better life. Not perfect, but maybe a better chance. And that she has no idea how to cut veggies in three chunks, and not in four.

On the other side, the human male (aka Mr G) was saying that keeping piggies in a cage is not a normal attitude and that he does not agree with that. Still, he would not object in helping to taking care of that piggy, nor put him outside.

This being said, Ms M understood that Mr G doesn’t agree keeping piggies in captivity, but he will nevertheless take good care of that piggy if need be. Of course, as a real woman, she understood only the positive side and took advantage of the ambiguity. 😃

In her defense, she really wanted to help a piggy, so just buying one from pet shop was out of the question. Moreover, not getting another one gave her the feeling that she was just waiting for the others to die. And was not a good feeling.

Of course, we have no idea what Mr G was / is really thinking as he is a real man and does not speak about feelings in general.

After about one month from the day Worf died, Ms M started checking the second hand websites to see if someone wants to get rid of a piggy. She couldn’t easily find a shelter in the proximity of their house, that’s why she went for this kind of websites. After all, life with two toddlers is complicated and putting more pressure on the family was not an option. Organizing transportation should have been an easy thing, not a complicated one.

Finally she found a piggy and contacted the owner. Apparently the piggy was a present for the daughter and she got bored with him. The parents had no idea what to do with the small creature and considered him a burden. (No judging here! Just please don’t offer pets as a present to your child and expect them to take care of it.)

Exactly when the little toddler turned one, the whole family went on a trip to meet the piggy and bring him home, provided that he was really a male and with no obvious health issue.

The piggy was as expected, the family was donating everything, so Mr G kindly accepted to carry the big cage to the tram station and home. Wasn’t easy, but he managed.

Since 5th May, Archy (aka John Archer) lives in the hall way with his cage. (His original name may be Felix, but the previous owner’s parents were not sure.) Pour him, the top of his mansion became a storage place for jackets and back packs. He is also in the way of the toddlers. Anyhow, this seems to help to the integration as the humans are always getting something from there and passing by.

In the begging he was scared of all the noise and movement and strangers around him, but since then he became more at ease. Now he even stays out of his wood hiding when the toddlers roam freely or the adults pass by.

He is the loudest wheeker in the house and understood that, in the morning, food is served as soon as one adult gets out of the bedroom. His wheeks tend to wake up the toddlers, so the speed with which Ms M brings him food in the morning increases gradually.

All the humans and the piggies are looking forward to have more hints about his personality, but this will come once he can join the other boys in the living room. This will actually be a present for is birthday as, from what we know, he was born somewhere in June and the official date was set for 15th.

Ms M hopes to convince Kirk to accept to live with Archy. Or the other way around. We’ll see.

In the meanwhile, Archy accepted to pose for a photo sessions in the toddlers’ bed. While they were out! So lease don’t tell them otherwise they will throw a tantrum.
