Update on The Gang

So, here we go again. This time with no resolution or promise to write more often.

What has been going on with us? Aside from Worf passing away… 😦

img_20180517_165538Data has teeth issues. Finally our new vet pointed out some lack of vitamine C. Now he is on a daily dose of vitamine C, some homeopathic pills for joints to help with his jaw and lot of cuddles.

He also had bumble foot, but Traumeel did the trick. No laser therapy needed this time. And he now spends his days on a VetBed.

Spock is his usual crazy self. Chasing Data around. His (presumably) seborrheic cyst grew larger and our new vet said she would like to take a look, but later as it is no emergency.

Both of them are so zen with the two toddlers in the house that even when Bubble jumps form the back of the couch right near them, they don’t even blink.

img_20180519_190640Kirk is on diet. Apparently he is a little bit too heavy. And, as he has too a lack of vitamine C, his joints should be spared of the burden of carrying 1.3 kg. So no more dried food for him because it has too much sweeteners.

He also has a lump on his belly. More exactly it is a breast tumor of an unknown nature, but the X-ray didn’t show any metastasis, so far so good. It will be removed on Wednesday.

img_20180523_161610Archy is the new boy in the gang. We brought him home on the 5th May and he comes from a family that thought a pet is a nice present for a kid. When the kid got bored, the family had an issue.

For the moment he is in quarantine in our hall way. This position allows him to participate to the family life and get used with the little biped brats. He is more at ease with us now, not running anymore for his life when we get close to him. And he is the loudest wheeker ever! First thing in the morning he wheeks for food.

Hopefully we will get our big fat assess back on this blog. 😀 If not, we are on Facebook.

Late Happy birthday! for Data

kirk_profile_2We’ve been busy with the book… We are sorry for letting this blog empty, but we hope of coming back. Some day. No more promises. 😦

But today I would like to wish a late happy birthday to Data, who turned 3 on 15th of October.

From a psychotherapist point of view, I may say he overcome pretty well the trauma of the 4 months spent in the pet shop in a very small cage along with some bunnies.

From a normal, jealous guinea pig point of view I really don’t understand why the human female insists on saying that he is the sweetest piggy. But let’s keep it positive, after all it was his birthday…

He received a very nice box as a gift. A box with two exits. A little bit unpleasant for him as he had now reason to chew a second exit. But he still enjoyed the box.

And Spock was very attentive and protective and went inside the first to check the safety of that box.

Well, next birthday is the one of Worf. I look forward to see what he will receive. I might want to check it first.

We wrote a book!

data_profile_2Imagine that! We wrote a book! We finally did it!

We have no idea if it will be published or not, for the moment we are just asking opinions about the first draft of the manuscript (Aaron, our human sent you a PM via Facebook!) .

But so far so good.

Next step would be proofreading, finding an illustrator and (self-)publishing the book.

We are even planning translations into Romanian, French and German. I mean, for sure it will get out in English and Romanian. For the rest, depends on the demands.

If you are curious about what it is, we can only say it is meant to be educative for kids and parents. And it was written in cooperation with the little human brat, Bubble.

Sorry, my brain is numb now. So not very creative for the blog. I just wrote this to let you know that we are fine, we still write, but we are super busy with this project. Hopefully we will have more concrete and good news soon.

Bear with us!

The Chinese Drop

data_profile_2The humans are convinced that the only things we do is eat, poop, sleep, repeat. To be honest they are not far from the truth, but we also do other very important things. Like planning to achieve world domination, training the little human rascal and keeping the human adults in good shape.

As we said before, the hm got the bad habit of sleeping on the couch. And the weird part is that although the baby is not even near him, he can’t get a full night sleep. He toss and turns and disturbs us too. I mean, come on! We get sleep in stashes of 20 minutes, but we need the house to be calm and quiet during those moments.

With this in mind, we try to get revenge and teach him a lesson every time there is an opportunity. And few days ago we had this awesome opportunity with some paper bags. The hf insisted in washing our tunnels, and we’ve got some paper bags with hay to keep us company during the night. Spock and I immediately cut another emergency exit in the bag’s back (whenever he is chasing me, I need an escape route!).

During the first day we just enjoyed the hay inside the bags and chewed a little bit of paper. But during the second night we’ve made a pact and started to take turns in tossing that bag and munching it.

The hm endured for a while, woke up several times, got crazy and finally got out of bed and took our paper bags. That was so funny! You should have seen his face!

Of course that the next morning the hf got mad and explained that this was not possible and that we should be kept entertained at all costs. That was even funnier.

Data's tales

Proper preparation

data_profile_2Oh no! As much as we plan it seems we don’t get to write as often as we would like. But lets give it another try…

The humans get the supplies for us from different sources. The main one is the supermarket, of course, from where the fresh vegetables come. Lately we need to share them with the bh, but she eats less than one of us so it’s fine.

Usually the hf comes home with a huge bag of veggies that is enough for few days. On Fridays is the hm’s turn to do the groceries and he buys also beer along with our food. Still for us they get fresh water.

They even thought of taking us to the store and dropping us in the celery box while they are shopping. I think they are crazy to believe no other human would notice us and take us home (we are that cute!).

The dry food comes from an online shop. And some of the pads used in our rooms. Last week we had a situation when we’ve noticed our dry food was almost finished and nobody placed a new order. We were already planning the revenge when the food was delivered. The humans were lucky!

But I wanted to tell about the hay, not about what distracted me… And food is always a distraction!

So right before going back to work the hf decided we need to stock food in case her life would turn that chaotic that she wouldn’t be able to follow up with our needs. The veggies are just around the corner, but the hay from that source is not awesome. And we deserve the best!

The hf went wild and bought an entire bale just for us. Of course it was ordered online and the delivery guy was somehow shocked to drop that to our door. We’ve managed to consume almost a half of it in one month and a good part got on the floor but we are good for another month or so.

Now this is what I mean when I say “proper preparation”! I just hope they will do the same for my birthday which is in 2 weeks.

Please excuse me now but I need to go chew some hay!WP_20150930_001

Spock's tales

The Naked Truth

spock_profile_2Almost one year ago the hf was making fun of me regarding my habit of piling up the food and hide it just because I was afraid someone would steal it, although I was living alone. You can find the original post here.

In the meanwhile I’m living with Data and I kept my habit. The humans are still making fun of me but now I have the prove that I’m not that crazy and that my food is being stolen with premeditation.

Surprisingly, the hf was more interested in capturing the scene than helping me! She shall pay! Please notice the planning and the diversion he came up with…

You see how tough it’s my life?!

Spock's tales

The Duracell piggies

spock_profile_2Our humans call us names. A lot! For example, Kirk is the squirrel, Worf is the marmot, I am the crazy monkey and Data is the kitten. But last week the hm took this to a whole different level. After watching us for a while, he stated very seriously that we (I and Data) are the Duracell piggies. You remember the Duracell bunny, don’t you?

What made him state this?! Well… The day started normal, with the hf cleaning our pen and placing the wood houses in their regular position. Regular for her, I mean, because we tend to pick a different one every few days. When she thinks we are settled with a pattern, we move them once again. To be honest, we do this just to make fun of her.

And then I’ve noticed Data was sleeping peacefully. But I wanted to chit-chat and run around. So I’ve tried to wake him up and of course I chose the most difficult way: pushing his wood house with him inside. I’m sorry, but I have no photos that document this stage of my behaviour. The hf tried, but I was on constant move and all of them are a fail.

So, after about an hour I’ve managed to convince Data to come out. He was awake, just that refused to come and play and chit-chat with me. After few laps of cage, some growling, butt sniffing and popcorning, we finally stopped to chew on the willow tunnel. Not as yummy as the baskets, but still very nice to pass the time.

But all this activity was too much even for me. Even if Data was still willing to spend time with me, I fell asleep. And it was my turn to use one of the houses and Data to guard from outside. By the way, I forgot to tell you that even if we have two wood houses, we would never settle and we would always try to occupy the same one.

So, this is how the hm ended up exclaiming “Finally, their Duracell batteries are down!”…
